Northstead Community Pre-school

Northstead Community Pre-school is a setting that promotes the holistic development of all children. We nurture children’s inner most qualities and individual needs in a safe, happy, stimulating and secure environment.

The staff team are all dedicated professional practitioners who respect and value all children as equals considering the well being of each and every child paramount.

We have built our foundations firmly upon strong relationships with parents and carers, we consider children are our future and our future embraces the children and families within our community.

Background

Northstead Community Pre-school is a registered charity, our number is 1123897.

We are a well-established group run by a superb team of dedicated and qualified Early Years Practitioners. We are employed by a committee of enthusiastic individuals, together we all work extremely hard to maintain the high standards of the group.

We are inspected by Ofsted in accordance with the National Standards for Full Day Care; our most recent visit was in June 2019 and the report can be viewed at www.ofsted.co.uk.

The group operates from the shared premises of Northstead Methodist Church in Givendale Road; however, we are an independent private non-maintained group and cater for families from diverse religious cultures. We value, respect, welcome and include all children and their families regardless of their nationality, gender, disability, religion, family, or social status.

The Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS):

In September 2008 the EYFS framework was introduced which combined the pre-existing Birth to Three framework and the Curriculum Guidance for the Foundation Stage (CGFS). This framework was updated in 2021.The EYFS provides documents that set out legal requirements that encompass the learning, development and welfare of all children in our care. It also values the child holistically and allows practitioners to facilitate practice which allows children to follow their interests through a play based curriculum. At Northstead Community Pre-school we respect that children are individual and plan to reflect this in our daily delivery of services that we provide to each and every child. Therefore to the untrained eye children will simply play and have fun; however the experienced staff team will be reflective of this and plan opportunities to enhance your child’s learning and development as unobtrusively as possible.

Message from Committee Chair

Northstead Community Pre-School is a committee run pre-school which enables parents to become involved in shaping the pre-school’s future. The committee exists of parents present and past along with our manager and makes decisions relating to all aspects of pre-school life. Additionally, the committee also organises fundraising events. All the money raised is invested in equipment for the pre-school. In order to continue to grow the pre-school and see it move from strength to strength, the committee are always looking for more members to bring fresh ideas to the table and share the work (the more members, the less work for each!)
As a committee run pre-school, we urgently need more committee members who are current pre-school children’s carer's to join the committee. Without new members joining the committee and taking on roles, we will not be able to run the pre-school going forward. The committee has overall responsibility for the pre-school, and it is your opportunity to help shape the pre-school’s future.
If this is something that interests you and you can spare an hour of your time, once a term, then please speak to Charlotte or email myself for more information.

Thankyou

Rachael Russell
